current event #7

It is being said that WiFi will run three times faster than what its speed is today. Chips will be distributed to other companies to help speed up the wireless internet access. These chips will also be sold in stores in a couple of months.
I believe that this would be a great opportunity for our school. The reason why is that we use WiFi on an everyday bases and its very slow. These chips would help speed up our connections and allow us to do and finish our work in time. Also, having faster WiFi access at home would be better than having to wait to do something for a long period of time.
I feel that this is good. I am glad to know that WiFi is going to speed up anytime soon. The way it can effect me is just that its going to allow me to do this quicker when I am trying to do an online assignment.

Current event #6

It is said that the game Flappy Bird that everyone is addicted to is most likely to go back to app stores. This article also established that the reason they had taken this game off the market was because people had gotten to addicted to it and it was ruining relationships as well. Not only will the game Flappy Bird will be out on the market the creator will also be releasing new games.
This event doesn't relate to any school activities, but during class when students have nothing to do they usually take their phones out and start playing this game or something similar to it. I believe it would be a good idea for them to release this game again because everyone enjoys playing it. It doesn't affect me much in any way I do play this every now and then but not as much as I use to.
  • How does the author use language to advance her point of view? Use evidence from the selection to support your answer.
The author used great grammar that helped the article sound more sophisticated. For example, when they said "The Vietnamese developer, who has stayed largely out of the spotlight, had also come under intense scrutiny...", because of the choice of words it helped give a better understanding and the word they used isn't used on an everyday bases. Therefore allowing the author sound like they do know what their subject has to be about.

current event #5

It is said that Boeing to sell phone that can self- destruct. This is very interesting because people don't actually believe that there is a phone that is capable of doing that. This phone doesn't really explode and show smoke it deletes all your information if someone tries to hack it. The company isn't releasing it yet it is expected to be released during the summer. Another fact that is said is that it won't be sold in a Verizon store or AT&T. This product isn't aimed for a consumer but for a costumer that wants to be geared and secured.
This can relate to our school because de are always using technology, de recently starter using chromebooks. We are allowed to carry our cell phones around and I feel that everyone would enjoy having a phone like this one that will protect all your personal data.
I think this new invention is amazing because I would be one of the persons to want one. I'm not sure on how it may affect me.

Current Event #4

In this article its speaking about how Netflix is willing to pay Comcast and other services that will allow streaming to get faster. It also states that this has already started before this article has even came out. Many people are worried about if the price of streaming will get any higher not just for Netflix but for the other services as well.
It relates to most of our school because not only students but teachers use Netflix to watch movies for entertainment and learning purposes. I feel that this event could start a controversy about the prices that may rise because of them paying other companies that will help speed up streaming. It affects me in a way because I have a Netflix account and I wouldn't like getting charged more for streaming.

  • What is the author’s point of view, and how does it impact the overall effect of the text? Use evidence from the selection to support your answer.
The author is just trying to inform the reader of what is going on with the company Netflix. They don't really show their feelings towards it, it just gives you the information about it. You can tell by the way they wrote the article it's very informative and gives details and clear evidence of what their clam is.

Georgia Tech."Robot helps with medication."Photograph. Tech News Daily.Web. 30 April 2013. 12 Feb 2014.<http://www.technewsdaily.com/17904-nurses-prefer-robots-over-human-help.html.>
This article informs you about how people prefer having help from a robot then a human. I found it amazing that not even nurses would mind that these friendly machines would take their places on helping those who need it. The advantage this would give people is that these robots will never complain and they help remind you when you have to take medication.
This article relates to what is going on in our school because we have a robotics club. This could be something that they could be interested on doing; to build a robot that is meant to do favors for those who need it.
Robots helping humans is very interesting; I feel that it would be a good experience trying to see how this would work.At the same time I feel that it can be slightly dangerous because you never know if a robot can have any effects in it.It affects me because if they were to create these robots I would be afraid to consider anyone of my family members to have one because you never know what could happen; but, if it were to work perfectly it would be a great invention to have around to help one of my closest family members.

  • How does the structure of the text refine and support the author's claim? Use evidence from the selection to support your answer.
The structure that the author of the article used helped provide clear evidence and facts. Because they start off asking questions that leave you thinking. Then it goes to the evidence that they had put together helping put a clear idea to a readers mind. Also they had gone and asked nurses how they felt towards it giving them positive answers to their clam. "Nurses surveyed preferred a robot to a human to fill the job of assistant health care worker. And they're not afraid of being replaced by caregiving machines." This proves their clam that people do prefer robots then humans.

World Health Organizations are afraid that the caramel coloring in soft drinks can cause health issues and cancer. Soft drinks are being tested to see if they exceed 4- Mel that is being thought to cause cancer. They are also wanting to put warnings on food or any other drinks that may contain this amount or more. "The FDA has no reason to believe that the 4-Mel poses a health risk to consumers.." Companies are now working to make these soft drinks have less then 4- Mel to reduce the risk of health issues.
I believe that this article can relate to our school, because, many of the students consume these soft drinks that are being provided from the drink machines. If what is being said is true many students could be at risk to the health issue.
I feel this event could have been prevented by testing the ingredients that they put in items that people consume to help prevent health issues in the future. It affects me because I as many others consume soft drinks and our health can be affected by drinking these drinks that consume 4-Mel or more of it.
  • How does the author support his claim? Use evidence from the selection to support your answer.
With every detail that the author is giving they give exclusive evidence to help support there claim. For example, when its being said that the FDA has no reason to believe that the soft drinks poses any health risk, they state "The government agency is testing a variety of food and beverages with the chemical and reviewing safety data to determine if any regulatory action needs to be taken, she said (Consumer Reports)." This evidence shows that the author feels as if there is not much to worry about when it comes to these conclusions if they don't have clear evidence.

Samsung: Galaxy S5 out by April, may scan your eyes Current event

This article talks about when they believe that the new Galaxy S5 will be coming out and how different it will be. The objective is to get clients attention to see how better this new phone will be and what are the cons of getting it once they are being sold at stores. It also talks about the new Galaxy Gear Watch that should be coming out the same day as the phone.
The only issue this is most likely to have is how people actually feel about the new phone and if they really are going to release it by April. This is very informational if you were to want to get the new Galaxy S5. It affects me because I wouldn't know if getting that new device would be a good option for me if I were wanting to get a new cellular device.
The central idea of this article is to inform you about the new Galaxy S5 that will be released in April. Throughout this passage it compares to the iPhones and how the Galaxy's are in competition with them but, at the end they always stay on their topic how the new Galaxy S5 will be like and how it will feel, what the new features are.
